I wanna breadbmaker

After reading so many people say the breadmaker is there best money saving tool, I want to get one as well. Panasonic seems to be well regarded. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for in a good breadmaker or what model to look out for and most importantly where i can get a good price on one please.

thanks

I got my stainless steel Morphy Richards fastbake one from electricshopping.com (via quidco) I think it was £48. Have to say after the first mad couple of weeks making bread (and eating it and getting upset stomach!) Ive only used it a couple of times since.

Panasonic SD254 or SD255, Amazon is usually the benchmark for pricing.

Yes if you do a search on amazon for breadmakers it will give you some comparisons.
  • We bought a Morphy Richards one last June which broke after 3 weeks, so we replaced it with the cheapest one in the Argos catalogue (think the brand is Cookworks). It's very obviously made by the same people as the Morphy Richards one, but is still going strong, and has so far made 126 loaves! (I know it's sad, but I'm keeping a tally so I can work out how much money we've saved!) It only cost £23 then, but I noticed the price has gone up in the latest catalogue - think it's now £35. Still significantly cheaper than the others we looked at, though, and would defo recommend it, even at that price.

I saw so many posts on here about bread makers I was tempted to buy one but didn't want to spend a fortune. I was lucky enough to find a Hinari Bread Baker at a car boot for £4, cheap enough to be 'disposable' if it didn't work although I was assured it did, the seller was just upgrading. I love it and wouldn't go back to plastic bread if you paid me now.

Have a look at your local freecycle or freeads - I bet there are a vast number of breadmakers sitting in garages :)

I originally bought one from Asda, their own make it was quite successfull doing white bread, but I am not a lover of white bread, and I could not get wholemeal to turn out any other than like a brick. I bought a Panasonic in the end and have never had a failure since. I keep saying I will put the Asda one on freecycle but have not got around to it. That can be my new year resolution get rid of all the things I don't use.

The Panasonic SD254 has excellent reviews on Amazon and loads of my family members rave about it. I plan on buying one asap.
