  • Hi

Anyone please can you help. I have had a DRO last December but have since received a payment of £900 from an affordabilty claim that was submitted before the dro was applied for. What do I need to do?

You can probably safely declare it. The maximum asset value is now £2000 so unless you have in excess of £1100 elsewhere you will not lose our DRO.
  • Hi, just a quick one.

My debt relief order was approved and started yesterday! It's going to be a long year but looking forward to the end.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I just want to make sure. I know I don't pay any of my creditors now, however one of them is council tax which has my name and my partner's name who lives with me. I have been advised that whilst I will be released from the debt, because my partners name is on it he will still be liable. We already had an agreement set up to pay £20 a month on top of the standard amount to pay off the arrears. Do we just continue as normal with this one and keep paying the £20?

    Thank you in advance

    Hi DDx

    Firstly, congratulations!

As long as you're able to afford that additional amount then yes, continue to pay it (or the council may start to take action against your partner).
  • Thank you Platespinner123!

And thank you for the advice, I will continue to pay it, I thought that would be the right approach but just wanted to check.

From the date it was approved - so drops off this year!
  • Hello, just a very quick (and probably stupid!) question regarding DRO's - are only debts that actually show on your credit file included in a DRO?
I ask as I'm looking to apply for a DRO in the next few weeks to clear credit card debt, but am currently being 'reminded' by paypal for a outstanding 'pay in three' payment from last November which is not on my credit report - would I currently be able to include this in my DRO application or would I have to wait for it to default/be sold on to a debt collector?
    Many thanks for any help!

You must include all debts. There are many sorts of debts that do not appear on a credit report
  • So finally my DRO was submitted yesterday so now it’s the waiting game! However, I’ve got myself in a panic now as today I have received a substantial back payment of DLA which has been claimed for my daughter with medical conditions. This money is now sitting in my bank account of which there is an £800 overdraft included on my DRO. Does this potentially affect the DRO?What do I do? Heads wrecked!
