Hi! I've just been recommended a DRO by a charity! I feel it's an unrealistic budget, but I've no other choice, with additional essential
Items left out! ... or not contemplated. It was quite empowering deleting all the direct debits though! But I feel the stress is yet to come, with growing children to feed and clothe, with an allowance of £5:00 per month for school uniform! :0 it's not gonna happen is it! ... Don't get me wrong, I'm eternally greatful for the assistance, I work hard, I've got a degree and I'm doing a post grad. I just can't get a qualified post!!

    yours thankfully!

Just 1 qu?! ... Will my phone company ask for my phone and I pads bk?! Was Wondering if I could write them
Into the debt or not? (I know it sounds bad, but they belong to the kids, n I have a moral compass!) x

    #frustrated! :@

When you say 'it's an unrealistic budget' are you saying that you do not know how you will live without the availability of credit?

If so, go over to the main debt-free board and post there. They'll want to see your 'statement of affairs' - income, expenditure, debts. If you have the one your Approved Intermediary produced, start with that.

I agree about the clothing - my starting point is £5 per person PER WEEK!

You must put all debts into the DRO. If your phone payments are up to date, then they go as a legitimate expenditure item.

If you want your phone contracts to go in then you will need to stop paying them and wait for (or find out accurately) the termination fees that will apply.
  • Hey everyone:

So my DRO has been submitted today (Tuesday 4th August) at about 2pm.

1- Will I find out tomorrow if it has been approved? Do I then need to do anything?

2- I've left my Santander everyday current account open as well as Natwest select account (no debt with them or overdraft) and not included in the DRO and I've opened a Halifax basic account and a tsb basic account and these have been confirmed as open now with sort code and account number. Will any of these be closed?!

I also applied for a Barclays cash card account which is still being processed but both LLOYDS BANK and BARCLAYS are included in my DRO- didn't manage to open a Co Op account in time.

The reason for all the accounts is I'm hoping they won't all be closed as I've read on here that people's accounts were closed even when they had no debt with that bank??!

If Barclays allow me to have a cash card account does their right to offset stop when the DRO is approved? I wouldn't want to lose my income through Barclays taking it- but surely if the Barclays debt is included in the DRO they cannot take money from my cash card account ?

Any further advice on this. ?

Rather than us speculating about what a certain bank might do, you have set up a fascinating experiment for us. Please let us know how the following banks react to you getting a dro:

    Santander
    Nat West
    Halifax
    TSB
    Barclays

I submitted one today at about that time so I would expect to get an email tomorrow afternoon and then I will phone the client. It should be on the register on Thursday.
  • Fatbelly did you get a response for your client? My intermediary said she hasn't yet and I'm worrying. I thought they were always approved the very next day!? :/ just anxious to know

Yes I did. It was approved around 11 a.m. this morning.

They are not always approved the next day so I wouldn't panic yet.

  • Thanks for letting me know fatbelly. My creditor list is long (23 creditors) maybe this is why it will take longer for the OR to process the application?

Maybe, not sure it makes a difference.

    Did it come through today?
  • It hasn't no, and I've been checking the insolvency register to make sure. I just hate the waiting around when it seems most applications go through the next day. There is nothing really questionable on my application either- my intermediary was confident in it so I wasn't expecting it to have any issues.:(
