Are there any specific reasons for which you would have to go through the application on a face to face basis? As well as Stepchange, there are other agencies who can arrange a DRO by phone/post, including ourselves, Shelter, Payplan and CAP (Christians Against Poverty). You may find that one of these organisations can process an application more quickly than your local CAB if they are under-resourced.
No extra fees are payable - just the £90 application. We would send you a Freepost envelope in which to return your application and relevant paperwork.

If?
My bureau now has 4 paid specialist/intermediaries for a population of half a million.
Until a year ago, when the LSC was operating, we had 13.0 -

Is it worth emailing them instead?
I would consider using stepchange instead, but they do not appear to have any offices near me.
Stepchange do all their DRO's from their Birmingham office via post and phone calls.
NDL also run from Birmingham if I'm right? in the same way?0 -
Hi All,
My DRO was submitted at about 2pm this Tuesday by Step Change, I feel a bit panic stricken at the moment, does anyone know when am I likely to hear news? Do many get turned down?
Many thanks if anyone can advise me0 -

I submitted some on Tuesday.
They were all accepted by 4 pm on Wednesday.
Have you checked whether your intermediary has heard anything?0 -
Thanks for replying. No, I was hoping to hear something by the end of today, I thought maybe they would email me. I'm going to ring them tomorrow, they did say I would get a letter in around a week but I know from reading on here they get accepted fairly quickly.0

Hi wba
Yes we are based in Birmingham and everything DRO-wise is done via phone & post. Anyone in England and Wales can apply through us, their location will make no difference to the time it takes.

Hi fatbelly
Yes I didn't want to make presumptions about specific CABx but you're absolutely right. You folks are trying to do a lot with very little and you have my utmost admiration.
