  • So based on the information I posted previously, does anyone see any likely way I could get those in-work figures down? How would my situation be viewed in terms of having the extra money for a year and then not having it again afterwards? The most frustrating part is not being able to know my precise figures until I'm there.

Just had my initial phone conversation with the CCCS who have booked me a counsellor's interview for this Friday, 1st July at 9am. I've started on the long road and hopefully will feel better after the phone call!

Received the call this morning and feel much better already. Confirmed with me that I have £6 per month spare income and debts of £11,725 in total. When you put it like that, a DRO was the best solution in my predicament.

Paperwork coming through, credit file applied for and ready to go now. They're quoting 8-10 weeks at the moment which hopefully may come down a bit but at least the long journey has started.:)

i think you need to wait till one of the experts comes on as im afraid i have no idea in terms of bringing your in-work figures down....i do know that for the year in which you are under your dro iff you have more than £50 surplus after all your outgoings your dro will probably be revoked....it doesnt matter that it will go down again the year after....its what happens during the dro year that matters......
  • I'm working with Christians Against Poverty who have recommended a DRO for me. I'd never even heard of one until this week, so I'm so grateful to CAP. The thought of being debt free ina year rather than the estimated 6 just sounds too good.

My only query is that I'm currently applying for new jobs with a slightly higher wage. If I was to start earning a higher wage whilst on DRO would the DRO have to end? If so, it almost seems worth not trying for new jobs until next year, as the increase would be around £3k pa before tax so it would still take a very long time to clear my debts. Thanks

    DEBT FREE - 20/1/12 :T

Hey everyone, not been on in a while, hope all are ok!

My mums DLA got turned down recently so now we have to appeal.

The council have made a total fluff up of her account.
They have sent her an amended bill but its not showing the right amounts as she should be getting full benefit now my brother has left but they are still wanting her to pay a certain amount and then some on her debt when it should just be debt payments!
She also got a letter saying that she had been awarded a payment by yorkshire water trust fund of 66.10 which we forgot we had applied for :rotfl:
Still no closer to applying for the DRO. We need the council to pull their finger out really.

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

    Hi guys,
I got a small problem, when i completed my dro i included up to date debts one of which up on till the last minute was with the credit card company, now i week after dro accepted i have recieved a debt collection letter for the sane credit card debt which explains it has been passed on to them.
So what do i do now as this particular company is not on ny dro and only the original company is? They have already sent me 2 letters in a matter of 1 week.

It shouldn't make any difference, if the debt was included, it's included! If I were you I would photocopy your approval letter and send it to the collection agent with a letter explaining you have a DRO which that debt was included in, and if they have any problems they need to contact the Insolvency Service DRO Unit...

    No.

I would only call them if after you have told them they then keep harassing you.
