Please can someone advise me I just don't know what to do - I'm in my 17th week of waiting for my paperwork to be processed - 5 weeks ago cccs told me it would be ready in 3.5 weeks, then 2 weeks ago said a counsellor would contact me within a week. I have not heard anything since, I have emailed them 3 times but had no response and tried ringing but I just can't get through.
I'm starting to feel quite desperate, my creditors are harrassing me more than ever. I don't know what I'm asking to be honest, just don't know what to do apart from keep ringing! Is there any other intermediary I could maybe apply with who would be faster???
I have just managed to get through to them - another 3-4 weeks!!!! Has anyone been through a quicker intermediary? Please advise!
Hi Sarah1773
I am sorry you have had problems trying to get through to us regarding your DRO. We are experiencing extremely high call volumes at the moment.
Please be assured that your application is being dealt with as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, if you are getting constant harassment from your creditors, you could write to them and ask them to remove you from their telephone database and communicate with you in writing only as the calls are causing you stress.
If you would like a copy of the template letter for this, then send me a message via contactus@cccs.co.uk fao Sue and I will forward a copy to you.
Regards

Thanks Sue - I had a lovely call from CCCS today to go through my application! A great surprise considering I thought it would be at least another 3 weeks! So thats wonderful - I know you must be so busy - I just started to think that there was a problem with my application and the stress was just really building up and making me panic. Hopefully, my application will be submitted by next Wednesday. I cannot tell you what a relief it is just to get that call today to go through the application! Thanks so much for everyones help, I will keep you all informed - fingers crossed it goes through!0 -
Hello,
My OH has sent off his DRO application 8 weeks ago, and had a letter from CCCS saying it would take 8 weeks. They called me yesterday to say it looks more like a 12 week wait now due to the huge demand of people needing to apply for a DRO. Thought I'd post this to make others aware.0 -
12 weeks? Jesus.
I work for 2 CABs are our waiting times for both are however long it takes for the experian to come back after your initial appointment...usually 2-3 weeks.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

WOW! that's a blooming long wait, I was told 6-8 weeks by national debtline. Waiting for the forms to arrive, so not even got the ball rolling yet. Feeling so apprehensive and stressed about it all!
I tried to see the CAB but never have had much luck with them....every time I call, they have nothing for the next couple of weeks and ask me to call back on a certain date, then there is usually a reason why it is not open that week, so call back again to be told there is no appointments for next couple of weeks.....and so it goes on! Round and round with them!0 -
I still haven't taken the plunge with this yet but have to say it seems ridiculous that the governemtn is allowing the likes of cccs to take so long in processing these appliations, maybe if they are not in a position to cope with the amount of applications they receive they should not be doing them at all!
After all this is a last hope for some people in debt and a lot of other nightmare things can happen with creditors in 12 weeks, it is unfair the unneccessary stress the likes of cccs and cab are causing applicants by being so far behind!"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

I take you didnt see the latest insolvency figure increase? so so many people are now looking at dro's and bankruptcy as a way out...We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

That is exactly my point, people look at thing like this really as a last resort when they can no longer cope dealing with their creditors, to me the 12 week+ waiting times by cccs and cab are just not acceptable at all, people are advised not to tell their creditors what they are doing so how are they supposed to keep them all happy for 12 weeks+??
The amount of extra stress people are being put under is not on, if these organisations are not able to deal with the demand then they should really be relaying this information back to the IS and seeking help in some way.
I feel really sorry for all the people that are being caught up in this, I really do, I have not decided if this is the right thing for me or not but one thing I have decided is B&E will be getting my application definately not cccs or cab.
Just my 2 penneth they system that cccs and cab has on the face of it seems to be failing and quite badly at that cccs are not even keeping basic communication with applicants it would seem from some of the posts here.
I hope you all manage to get this sorted out soon I really do, being in the position most of you are inI can fully understand your frustrations and unhappiness, the DRO scheme is meant to help not make things worst!"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
The problem is figures increase putting a strain on an already struggling service....and when things go wrong its them at fault
I wouldnt say the system fails...if anything they deserve more support than they currently get...sure the odd post someone has had a bit of duff advice..but thats down to individual training etc
The CAB office I'[m based in is mown under with various issues yet the door is always open & we never turn anyone away..not bad you think for a service thats run on a shoestring & mainly rely on volunteers...althoug..12wks ? not greatWe all die.
