the printing press
most likely option now, so that they can maintain the farce but hide the fact that they dont have the money to fund their policies. why else would they be trying to amend the rules where by they will not need to declare how much money they are printing anymore. wish the general public could get away with such "quantitative easing" that way all of us could continue living beyond our means forever by printing money and follow the path shown by this ingenious govt policy. they seem to be pulling a magicians trick pulling rabbits out of their hats. lets see if they learn to pull their heads out of their backsides and see the writing on the wall. but i wouldnt bet on that happening for a while.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Well that will just mean lots more joining the dole queue (myself included!!!).
Oh, I agree, it would affect me too, and the question is do they actually have the money to pay for all the redundancies?
A lot of council workers/civil servants are long-serving, so getting rid of them won't be cheap. The only alternative would be to have a private employer take over the jobs and not honour TUPE somehow.Fokking Fokk!0 -

I left mental health service & went to childrens services as I didn't want to be TUPED to the NHS.
They just had confirmation that business staff won't be TUPED:rolleyes:
But I left in July, my old team only just found out before xmas.0 -

Logic just tells me that something has GOT to give in this country. We've run out of options, we're running out of credit (which has fuelled a false 'boom'), we're going down the pan.
I suspect they are banging heads together and facing the fact that they need to make some unpopular decisions. If they aren't, they need shooting. Another part of me wonders if they're all telling us to stay calm, but secretly making plans to move out of the country just before the !!!!!! hits the fan.Fokking Fokk!0 -

I have long had suspicions that the government will try to find some legal loophole to get around TUPE so that they can get rid of council staff/civil servants and their pension obligations. I'm not sure how they'd do it, I don't know enough about employment law, but I don't doubt they're looking into it.
One thing I've thought they might do is change the pensions from final salary in some form. They may be banking on people not striking due to the recession.Fokking Fokk!0 -
Just to expand my knowledge...what does TUPED mean?We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Being a salaried employee in the public sector may not be such a smart move.
