I'm trying to put Windows XP (pro) on my laptop but the product key (home edition )is not being excepted. Any advise would be welcome.
Apparenlty I can skip this bit and get a product key later but I cant seem to see how I can skip it !!

If you're using a Home Edition product key on an installation of Pro then it ain't going be accepted. You'll either need to get a Home Edition CD or a Pro product key.0 -

My laptop has a home edition key and I have been given a pro cd ?? Do I have another option ?
so you dont have the home edition cd then, i may be wrong but theres no way to install xp pro without a key, i see 2 or 3 options, you can either borrow a home edition cd, buy a version of xp pro or home edition or install ubuntu which is free0 -

Or you could purchase a key for Pro. I believe that some companies who strip PC's for parts will sometimes advertise the key on a well known auction site.0
