    Why do you think 4.1 is particularly meagre? The rate has merely dropped roughly in line with the BoE base rate and I think you'll find most other variable rates have fallen by similar or greater amounts. E.g. Nationwide e-savings has dropped from 4.55 to 1.95 in the same period.
