itunes

Hi can anyone please help. I got an ipod touch for xmas but am having trouble downloading itunes in order to use it. I used to have an ipod mini and this came with an installation disk which was very straightforward, however the new models just come with a 'quick start' guide informing me to download the programme from the internet. However when i tried clicked on 'run' the message "the publisher could not be verified, are you sure you want to run this software" appears. I clicked on 'yes run' but i then get the warning:

"documents and settings\local settings\temporary internet files\content.IE5\72DOL77F\itunesSetup(1).exe is not a valid Win32 application"

I have uninstalled the previous itunes and looked through their own support pages but nothing has worked so far and will not be able to get to the apple store for a few days and as im sure you can appreciate its upsetting me having it sitting here but unable to use it! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

    first close IE
    Then go to
    c:\documents and settings\local settings\temporary internet files\content.IE5\

and delete all the folders there (JUST the Folders!! it's ok they are just temp cache files )
Start IE then try and download iTunes again, it should work now.

  • Im not sure what you mean (as you can probably tell technology is not my strong point!) The only way of downloading it is through the apple website itself, this is what i have been using.

Try saving the installer to your desktop first rather than opening it in IE.

Select "Save As..." and save it to your "My Documents" folder or "Desktop"

What Anti-Virus have you got running?

It might be that interfering with the installer.
Turn it off and try running the installer again.
