Re-using special delivery envelopes

For those who don't know, it's not possible to recycle special delivery envelopes. I received something in a Royal Mail special delivery plastic bag recently, and thought I'd use that to send a package to a buyer. Despite covering up all lettering on the bag (special delivery, next day etc...) I was not allowed to use it to send the package first class. So, I either had to buy another enveloppe/bag or pay extra for special delivery. I was at work so didn't have time to look for alternatives so just forked out the extra £3 to send it special so reduced by profit quite a bit. Anyway, just thought I'd warn those who didn't know.
Edit: But they can be used when turned inside out!

I've reused these many times, I just turn them inside out. Never had any problems. I think if you keep them the right way round, ie with the printing on the outside, you can't use them.

the problem for the guys sorting is these envelopes are meant be easily identifiable
if many people start using SD pouches then it means the guys need to start checking if an item truly is an SD item0
