I have 2 really nice sofas from DFS, but i agree about the sales staff. We made a complaint about ours as he said they would never bring the price of our sofa down, yet they did a few weeks later. Complained to head office and got the difference back.
Definately worth complaining about.

i too had dreadfull experience. posted it here some time ago, wont go into the detail again but yes the staff are like the worst double glazing type reps you fear to meet, sales hungry and with no care to the customers needs or requirements.

i bought from a smaller family fun store and they were so nice, made all the difference.

Be VERY careful with DFS.

If you buy on their 3 year interest free credit they (used ) to add on the payment protection without telling you. We found that out when we got home and I immediately went back to the store to cancel it (I confronted the same salesman who ran and hid). After a massive complaint threatening to notify the FSA we had one of their executive directors come to our house to apologise.

My wife used to work in financial services so knew about the supposed "codes" you have to adhere to. She reckons they can't do this anymore but the underlying apparent deceipt they will go to means I will never shop there again.

Try your local family small but established firm - they will be cheaper than you thought and the quality will be miles better.

There's other colours too but we went with ruby, very striking.

Anyway, there's also some sofas available in their clearance too. Their service was fab too. The sofas almost didn't fit but they didn't get frustrated and were very professional lol! (I know if it had been me and OH trying to get them in we would have ended up with a giant row...) They put blankets down to make sure they didn't get mud on my carpet too which i thought was very thoughtful. And do DFS/SCS/LoL even help you get the sofas into your desired room?

I second that John lewis are first rate
and the after sales in second to none
if I was spending that kind of money
no way would I be going to any of those
sofa companies,I wonder if any of them are
likely to be victims of the reccession ?
Its a lot to lose if any of them go belly up
