DFS - Bad attitude - very rude - no sale

Went to DFS to try to buy a sofa today - we've come away with no sofa.

The salesman, Kevin, at Farnborough, was downright rude, and I was clearly told how wrong I was.

Pretty disgusting really.

I'll wait for DFS to go down the pan, and then see how friendly they are. Until then, off to SCS or Land of Leather. They'll want my £2k Im sure.

I hate rude salesman, make a complaint about him. It's a real shame because the DFS sofas are actually really comfortable. Mayeb if you complain about him they may send you some money off vouchers or something??

I'd give a lass called Deborah a miss in CSL too. She was rude and tried to add on sofa cleaner to our order without telling us. Had to buy the sofa though becuase it's the only one I like and they were the cheapest by hundreds!

What are you looking to get for £2k?

Personally, i would avoid any of the big-shed retailers.
If you have the money, & really want to buy something, go to a proper furniture retailer.

Have you had a look at Marks and Spencers? Not a massive range but anything instore looks pretty good and fairly well priced esp with the sale now on.

Our settee is over a year old and from DFS and I have to say its the best settee weve ever had....bought it for £1500 16 mths ago......sorry you had a bad experience....

DFS, Land of Leather, CSL... I've had problems with all of them too. I don't know what it is about sofa retailers. Generally I've had good service from furniture retailers that I've dealt with, but it seems to be the sofa guys who are rude! I ended up getting a display model from our local place. Who needs the famous names?

what did he say that was wrong, was it just a difference of opion? speak to his manager he may have said something that was taken the wrong way most sales people are trained to sell and most people want to buy so there must be some common ground?

i hate sales reps to, we went into dfs, picked the sofa we wanted, told the rep we needed some time in the store to sit on it without them. Gave it 10 mins thought yes we will have it, left the store, with huge smiles on our faces as the rep tried to chase us down. Got home and ordered it on the phone. Easy.

If you have 2k to spend, I would look at John Lewis. I got sofas from their padstow range (2 x medium) and they are just fab. Haven't found anything that compares.

There's other colours too but we went with ruby, very striking.

Anyway, there's also some sofas available in their clearance too. Their service was fab too. The sofas almost didn't fit but they didn't get frustrated and were very professional lol! (I know if it had been me and OH trying to get them in we would have ended up with a giant row...) They put blankets down to make sure they didn't get mud on my carpet too which i thought was very thoughtful. And do DFS/SCS/LoL even help you get the sofas into your desired room?
