If you don't get the £50 open a First Direct account they will give you £50 just for opening the account.
Hi cheggers
Can you tell me the requirements for getting the £50 please? I saw something about it, got OH to open an account with them and now can't find the original article with the details!!! (my excuse is 'old age' lack of memory!) Meanwhile, we have a First Direct account which he didn't really want and I can't tell him what to do next. Help!Of all the things I have lost it's my mind I miss the most:D0 -

Now I am confused. Did I misunderstand your reply to stuartm? I thought you were saying that First Direct would give you £50 just for opening an account.Of all the things I have lost it's my mind I miss the most:D0 -
I was in the Nationwide at lunch time the advert says switch current account to nationwide hassle free or we will give you £50.00.
You surely have grounds for the £50, write a complaint letter and you'll have the £50 in no time.0 -
Nationwide - result!
I wrote to Nationwide as some people on this forum suggested and posted the letter on Monday. On Friday I received a lengthly reply, which said that they were sorry for the hassle I'd had and had credited my account with £50 as per their promotion.
The letter went in to detail about my experiences, so someone had obviously taken the time to investigate properly and then reply very quickly to my letter.
Most impressed!0 -
Good to get a satisfactory result!
Maybe, when I transferred to the Nationwide, I should have allowed them to transfer my DDs and SOs but I did it all myself! I would have got £50 for their mistakes but nothing for my own!0 -

Now you have the £50, I close the account and go somewhere else. Smile are pretty good by all accounts.0 -
Other than this recent hassle, I'm quite happy with NW. Not the top interest payer, but better than First Direct (my old bank) and the service is generally good.
The Flexaccount also allows cheap foreign currency (e.g. Euros) from cashpoints abroad (no loading) and their Visa card offer a similar 'no loading' rate. The Euro rate on both has been cheaper recently than Travelex's best online rate, which I previously found to be the best.0
