Re:Prevention Is Better Than Cure For Laptops

Re:Prevention Is Better Than Cure For Laptops

I have a Targa Traveller Model 1016 handcrafted with care in China from Lidl Discount Supermarket its one of those Netbook things with small 10 inch screen
very similar to Samsung NC10 see https://www.amazon.com to see interesting reviews

anyway its got 4-5hours battery life so they say I have to test it versus Samsungs 6hours depending what you are doing.
It requires a Three Network Dongle to go mobile outside which means the dongle could break the jack point naturally this would be extremely expensive to fix or mean scrapping the machine
my netbook got 3 year warranty from Targa Lidle Samsung only 1 year
style wise the Samsung looks better with mirror effect 3 colour options white navy black & red specks see https://www.sammynetbook.com

Lidl only Black available

I need liquid spillage protector customised design and LCD protector too
as well as a good protective holdster for this Netbook.

After you use it the Netbook you are supposed to use a black piece of cloth which you carry around with you to protect the screen it looks like spare packaging provided by Lidl:)

Its still under its 30 day evaluation period no optical drive the loudspeaker produce
the most irritating "tinny"noise listening to pop off YouTube the headphones
there is an improvement but not great.
I guess you need a wireless mouse with this too.

I tried contacting this company based in Holland no answer I guess because its New Years Eve Day and they want an extended holiday.

My response was in reply to dbe's question, i.e. -another sherry? The OP said "yes" hence the post.

    I'll shut up now.

It's all getting a bit confusing now!

  • Not sure what the question is either ...

but here goes, I did see the Lidl one advertised before christmas, it was overpriced to my mind at about £399 as I recall

The NC10 is about £310, yes only one year warranty, and it too would still require an external dongle for roaming Internet - rumor is they will be releasing one with it built in - there is space & socket inside current NC10 for 3g card so maybe possilble to upgrade later ( would have to open case- warranty ?)

See HERE for more specifi NC10 info

In summary I think you would be better off with the NC10 either way - If you have the chance for a refund I would go for it

We have an NC10 so can answer more specific and 'er coherent questions if reqd

    Thanks for your reply.
The Samsung NC10 was featured on https://www.QVCUK.com not sure if its still there on offer
where did you buy your samsung NC10 Netbook what colour you opt for ?

You Think what I paid for it was over the top?
Yes a refund a good idea I think I would be better off leaving the whole concept of Netbooks alone and go for a decent laptop with monitor sound card and battery life
too a 17 inch screen the most I can expect is 2 hours 30 minutes battery life.

Basically I was looking for a UK suppliers of customised laptop keyboards from liquid spill etc

When you think the NC10 are releasing an English bersion with dongle inside
apparently they are available in Poland currently.

    Happy New Year

    Samantha
  • We got it from Amazon, in black as it happens.

If you paid 399 then yes I would say it must be over priced - I don't remember it offering anything more than the NC10, and let face it the NC10 is right at the top end of netboosk pricewise as it is.

A netbook should probably only be a second PC not your main one, where you can accept its limitations to get the benifit of its features - mainly battery life and portability.

With Dell you used to be able to order a longer life battery with their laptops - not sure if thats still an option

Don;t know about availability of 3g versions sorry.
