Credit cards given to persons with high debt

Options
In 2007 , I was given a £5,000 credit card by a bank I had just changed to that day.
I had high debts at that time , but the new bank still give me this credit card with this high allowance.
Of course I spent the £5,000 and I am now trying to pay back this high amount.
Do I have any chance to state that they are part laible for this £5,000 , as they should assessed me as not being a good creditor ?

NO - they didn't twist your arm when spending on it. So your in this mess all by yourself. I know it's blunt but no point in beating around the bush.

    Hi Bladon,

I think you're right. No bank should have shoved this credit limit at you. To do so was negligent on their half.

It's obvious that you're not a responsible adult so you should close all your bank accounts and credit card accounts in case you tempt fate and we wouldn't want that would we?
