How worried should I be?

Hi Pink Twirl,
I've been in a similar situation since april. I got made redundant 2 days after i got my mortgage! I had 2 months money and some savings to last me. i temped for bit in the summer to top this up and was offered a permanent job in August. However, they withdrew the contract the day before i was due to start. I was lucky that they paid me 2 months notice. I started temping as soon as i could after 4 weeks and have been doing that since.
my salary from the temp work covers my bills/food and thats it. I'm still eeking out my savings to go out occasionally but its depressing working all week for what seems like nothing.
my contract is due to end in March and i'm struggling to get better (or worse!) paid work. I've been for a few interviews which i'm told went brilliantly only for the jobs to be given to people with less experience who would accept less money.
I'm clinging on to the hope that something will turn up eventually but in the meantime after a blow out tonight i wont be going out anywhere until i have secured work. It's easy for me to tell you not to worry but it honestly wont do you any good.
Try to stay calm, positive and keep going for those interviews. Turning up for one looking desperate won't do you any favours.
I'm sure you can find temp work that would just cover your bills if need be and then you can do some part time work to get some extras. Unfortunately this isnt an option for me as i am exhausted after a weeks work.
wishing you luck for the new year. xxx

Just wanted to say good luck with the job hunting pink...
I'm currently saving as in 3 months time I could be out of a job. If I were you I would post a real soa not with the income you had before but your job seekers allowance income as I think you are lulled into a false sense of security with the soa as it is... just a thoughtAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi,
Not yet. I registered with Reed and that was a total waste of time. I have registered with 3 agencies where I live due to applying online for jobs that seem to all have a route via recruitment consultants.
Had 4 accountancy interviews (one got to second stage, thought it was in the bag), and one project management interview. Ended up with this temporary 5 month job which I am enjoying, but not a long term thing in terms of money (career type stuff can be worked on in the background and taken further at any time, it's not urgent).
Today I'm adding in my latest job to my cv and from tomorrow full steam ahead applying for online jobs (I was told by an agency that a lot of them are out of date  ). I will register with every agency and online thing such as Monster I can think of.
Jobseekers allowance with be a last resort - when I try to reason with myself that at least it is income coming in then I think what the hell will I do with all that free time and that is the thing that is worrying me the most I think! If I have to watch Jeremy Kyle at least once I think I will lose my sanity! :rotfl:
Anyway, good luck to everyone else out there looking, these interview processes are an absolute nightmare.

Sorry I misunderstood - when is it that you are losing your job? Or have I completely lost the plot?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
