Tax when selling

I'm trading in my old car against another used car - getting beggar all for it. It's currently taxed till next summer, can I refund it to boost the deal a bit? If I did that - what about driving it to the garage?

    drive it to the garage and take it out when you're there.

    make sure they know you are taking it out.

    Make sure that whoever you are selling the car to knows that there will be no tax on it at the time of sale.
    Drive the car to the point of sale take out the tax disc and drive away in the other TAXED car.
    No tax disc on display = breaking the law
