payment protection on Egg

I have an Egg acount which I signed up for online. I have been paying payment protection, which I don't want. I'm sure I didn't agree to this so I asked for a copy of my agreement. They said that I couldn't have a copy since I signed up online. I requested that payment protection be removed in August (via the online messaging). I recently noticed a message sent back by them saying that I had to reply to "this message" so that it be removed. I didn't see this message so it wasn't removed. Surely they didn't need confirmation since I requested it in plain English in the first place!
