in Credit cards
Hi i wonder if any one can help me i was under the impression that this card was a credit card or debit card depending on what your balance is. I have a positive balance of around £1300 but when i came to pay for the deposit on a holiday of £300 they told me that there would be a 2% credit card charge as its not a debit card
Am i correct in my thinking or am i wrong

it is a full blown credit card! its just marketed as a "debit card" because of the the free cash withdrawls and the interest when your in credit. its just a credit card where you can go into credit on0

It's still a credit card, and the retailer is still charged card handling fees so they pass the cost on to you.
You'll get 1% cashback on all purchases though, so the net cost of the fee is 1%.
You'll have to pay via debit card (or cash/cheque) to totally avoid the fee though.0 -
I take the 2% fee only applys to companys that actually charge a fee like travel agencys0

The 'fee' (it's not necessarily 2%, it may be 1.5% or whatever) is set by the company taking payment for goods & services. Other examples will be booking theatre tickets, buying a motor car etc.SHAGGY84 wrote:I take the 2% fee only applys to companys that actually charge a fee like travel agencys
You do get section 75 consumer protection when using your credit card - something you don't get with a debit card. However, if you're booking your holiday through an ABTA bonded travel agent, you may feel that you don't need the added protection that section 75 affords.0
