Experian - Most Important

I think most of the companies use Experian for credit checks, other CRA's (Equifax & Call credit) are only used in conjunction with Experian but almost never used exclusively hence maintaining a good rating at Experian should be a priority..............I know someone who has a bad credit history with Equifax but a fair with Experian and hence manages to get new credit card and loan deals (6/10 times).......Does anyone know companies who do exclusively Equifax?

It is impossible to have a 100% hard and fast rule about this because lenders may change which CRA they use or they may use one CRA for one product but a different one for another product. The table here has colour coded dots to show which CRAs lenders normally use.

I agree with the comments above. Exeperian does seem more important than Equifax.

I also called up several of the 'Equifax only' lenders in that link above. Several said they in fact used Experian. Sainsburys bank even said they used Equifax, but the search was done under Experian with no record of it on my Equifax account. So beware.

"maintaining a good rating at Experian should be a priority" I second that. The information on my Experian file was much more comprehensive than that of Equifax.
I've lost over 100lbs in two years, I can be debt free too.

And finally very soon people with RBS accounts etc will be able to agree with you. FOr 5 years now my mortgage hasnt existed according to Experian. And I had to prove it to 1 lender before they'd reconsider my application
