Someone wants my phone ASAP - is it a scam?

Someone contacted me wanting to buy my phone early off me, full text of their message is below, but I had a similar e-mail from a different buyer last week, basically same story and same details, is it a scam? i've tried to discourage them (by asking for a high price, worked last week) but they still want is and I've got another one anyway, should I do it? Or am I being scammed?

  • Cheers - will avoid like the plague.

Just wondered how will they scam me? They have a good eBay rating too, guess that doesn't make any difference.

    Thanks again ;D

fatboyonadiet - after reading so many of these different types of scam e-mails you are soon able to spot them a mile off. They are all written in the same way - things like "I want you to do this" and "end the auction early" are classic give aways. And when they ask you to ship it internationally - it's the icing on the cake.

I am quite surprised they are offering to pay via Paypal and not Western Union, but trust me I would still never deal with anyone like this. You could send the e-mail to eBay and I am pretty sure the buyer would be suspended - it is totally against their rules.

Wait for your auction to finish and you will have a happy outcome :D

    how will they scam you..

firstly you accept their offer then they tell you they'll be paying via Western Union and sending UPS to collect the phone.

If they've got good feedback and on the scam then they've either built up a reputation to look like they're not on the scam or they've been hijacked.
