Hi,
I'm not sure which model Yaris to pick. I've got about 6k to spend and considering a '57 Toyota Yaris 3/5dr 1.0 VVT-i T2.
What I'm not sure on is whether I should go for a T3 but then it'd have to be a '56 reg.
T3 in addition comes with:
"The T3 adds front side airbags, curtain airbags, driver's knee airbag, reach-adjustable steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, manual air conditioning, leather-trimmed steering wheel and colour keyed door handles and mirrors." - Source parkers.co.uk
Assuming they had similar milage which would you go for? Also if I went for the '06 reg T3 I could probably get a 1.3 over a '07 1.0. How would the two compare when depreciating in value in years to come do you think?
I've also got a 62k '03 Yaris 1.0 VVTi Colour Collection Red 3dr which I intend to part exchange. What would you say I should expect for this?
Glass.co.uk suggests:
Trade in - excellent: £ 2,541
Trade in - average: £ 2,300
Trade in - below average: £2,040
I've never part exchanged a car before - is there anything I should ask for or check?
All advice welcome.

Try one of these Yaris's in post number 2...

I have a Y reg Yaris GS and to be honest I wish I had had a 5 door. I have had it since new and it is still going strong although when it comes to replacing it I won't buy another one - not because there is anything wrong with it, I hate the local dealership.
The Honda Jazz is a better car for your money tbh.0 -
Has to be T3 version for all the extra over the T2. A year older means nothing and 1.3 is a lot better than 1.0 and doesn't drink much more petrol as 1.0 version has to work harder.0

It's been suggested to me that if I in fact wanted to save money I'd be much better off running the current Yaris to its grave.
I originally thought I should sell it while its mileage isn't too high so I could use the current cars value as collateral to move up the ladder in cars. However it's been suggested both cars will depreciate, the newer car faster than my current one.
So I'm now thinking of hanging on to it for another 2 - 3 years, adding 20k-30k miles to the current 62k and then selling it privately.
What do people reckon? Sensible choice?0 -
Yes I think that is a sensible choice, and the best option financially. otherwise i would have gone for the T3 1.3 but that's just me. But really, depreciation is a nightmare especially recently.0
-
Keeping the car for another year or so is a very sensible choice, I would say running the yaris to the grave is very hard indeed as they are car great little cars.
This time next year your car would not depreciate too much, whereas the 1 or 2 years old will have bigger depreciation. So you can just wait a year depending on your needs.0 -
the t2 has manual wind windows- my handle came off in my hand first time i used it.
also has smaller tyres which are not as comfortable a ride as the bigger ones and a pain when buying new ones.
My 1.0 felt underpowered and i'm not sure how much it would be worth to trade in.
given a choice i think i would go for the t3 if buying again, but the base model in red was very very cheap to purchase.0
