I have some video that is saved on DVD which I would like to put onto my website. Can anyone suggest a good ripping tool to get the DVD onto my computer and then some compression software to reduce the file size. If I want to stream video what format should I save it in and what sort of file size would I be looking at for a 2 minute clip.
Thanks

You should probably look into Quicktime for streaming it within a web browser. alternatively, you can allow users to download/open it and play it in Windows Media Player/Real Player.

It depends on what quality you record it from the DVD at. Although it isn't the same (although slightly similar), when I record from my digital camcorder over firewire at premium quality, it uses about 5 MB every 3 seconds.robin123 wrote:what sort of file size would I be looking at for a 2 minute clip.
If you are planning to show it in a small window on your site then you shouldn't copy it at full quality. However, if the video will sell a product or do something important for visitors to your site then you should consider a better quality to prevent blurred video.
