Well in my experience Halifax are pretty efficient. Can't comment on Natwest, no dealings. As long as all the requested docs were presented, you shouldn't have any unscheduled delays, but Xmas hols and New Year knock out 'working days' and you've got to take out w/ends + don't know how much delay Royal Mail will add because of hols, etc. too. Why no give them a call and see what point it's at?

Why didn't you open one before closing your Barclays account?
  • They said to close it would take 14days but when i last checked on the 5th day it had been closed , i already withdrawed over 10,000pound . I can't keep it at home plus my wages for 3,250pound for the week has come and i need to cash it but do not have a bank account so need to sign up quicker.

Under your mattress seems the safest place.

I can't understand why you'd close one account before another one was open first! Strange...
