Is it for an association of some sort? I'm on the committee of football club supporters association. Our account has four named holders, and cheques have to be signed by at least two of us. We specify the number of account holders, and number of signatories (so we're "2 from 4").

Ours is with NatWest but I'm guessing most banks offer these. But it is specifically for an association so we have to pay fees (similar to a business account).

Not sure if personal joint accounts are available for more than two people.
  • Pretty sure current accounts only can have 2 maximum on it. Business accounts for clubs, associations can have more than 2 signatories on them. Could do with more info as to what the accounts for before suggestions can be made.

You might get better answers in the Current Accounts forum - but here goes:

Citibank allow you to have multiple people on current accounts. They still essentially only have max 2 people per account number, but you can have multiple account numbers, and all the account holders can make online transactions against all the accounts. Debit cards (and cheque books if desired) are max 2 per account number, though.

    Example:
    • Person A and B are joint account holders on account 1. A and B each have a debit card which works with account 1
    • Person A and C are joint account holders on account 2. A and C each have a debit card which works with account 2
    • Person A, B and C can log into the online service and see both, account 1 and account 2. A, B and C can use all the online facilities against accounts 1 and 2.
    • Accounts 1 and 2 are shown in the same Citibank space, and transfers between the accounts are instant
    • All 3 people need to sign the application forms - one form needed for account 1 and one for account 2
I am sure other banks will do similar if asked.

Citibank pay abysmal interest on current accounts, but I suppose that's becoming the norm now.
