    i bought an xbox360 at xmas for my son and now it wont work i went back to the store where i bought it and they said they only give out 28 day guarantee and i should get in touch with xbox so i did this and was told that the warranty on the product i bought actually ran out in november 2007 i didnt buy it untill december 2008 so basically it had in a way been out of date for over a year when i bought it i have emailed customer services and told them this but not yet heard back ...what i want to know is what are my rights here and what can be done:confused:

    Your rights are against the RETAILER under the SoGA, you need some form of proof of purchase, this does not need to be a receipt, can be credit card statement, debit card statement etc.
    Did you purchase on a credit card? and if so was the cost more than £100. if so you can also claim against the CC as they are "equally and severally liable" under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

    So go back to the retailer, with some proof of purchase and inform them of their obligations.
