This may be of interest to any fellow card makers out there.
I've just been to The Works bookshop & they are selling 2 packs of 50 textured greeting card blanks & envlopes at £9.99. Normally £7.99 per pack of 50.
They have the usual white & cream packs, along with pastel & packs of either gold or silver. There were a few red & green packs too if anyone wants to stock up for next Christmas!
The cards I bought are 5"x7", but the other sizes they had were A6 & the long narrow size that is a bit smaller than DL.
At only 10p each card & envelope I'm happy.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I think that card blanks are very expensive now. So what I do is go down to the papermill shops pack an A5 box with allsorts of colours and pay £3.99 for loads of card and then fold them myself and buy cheapie envelopes 50 form 99p.
As I have in the past made loads of cards for people to sell to charity. And allows me to be generous but does not cost me an arm and leg.

There is one in Ashford and one in Chatham, at the outlet centres. The web address is

Where is the cheapest place to envelopes??
I use papermill for the paper but can only find cheap envelopes in the 'letter' type style rather than the nicer card sending style (does that make sense??!)2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Have you thought about making your own?
Lakeland plastics sell packs of 2 envelope templates (Ref 30126) for £3.95.
The only problem I see (if you intend to sell your cards) is the glue.

To be truthful I use any cheapie white envelopes I can get. As they are going to get ripped open and thrown away.
I personally don't really notice or remember the envelopes once I get in to it anyway.

I made my own last Christmas, and bought my supplies online, the company was Card Craft Heaven. Worked out at about 15p/card, but they looked good. I have seen the card blanks on offer (at the Banana Bookshop, but I thing they're probably the same) and wasn't taken by them. Still I'll admit 10p each isn't bad.0 -

I make my own Cards and Envelopes, I purchased a few things from Create and Craft.
Envelope Flap Glue.....Re-Moistenable
Double sided Tape Pen
Enveloper...Makes perfect envelopes every time.
The initial cost is quite a lot, But it is well worth it if you make a lot of envelopes and the results are fantastic, The enveloper is really easy to use and covers all sizes of envelopes.0 -
Dont know where Id be without my cardcreaser! One of the best things Ive ever bought! Saved a fortune on cards this way! (and makes lovely boxes for cards, gifts, so quickly and easily!)
(they sell them cheap on Ebay I noticed, for anyone interested)
I bought loads of cheap xmas cards in the sales, just for the envelopes!
(VERY good quality ones in WHSmiths boxes that were only 49p!)
I also buy notelet sets from places like woolworths etc when there on offer.
You could always make a template from an envelope (I use acetate sheets for things like this) and use double sided sticky tape for the 'stick down flap' .......
But, I agree with Calley.........I use cheap ones the majority of the time, never had any complaints from my customers .......yet! lol.........
I usually stamp a nice corner on them, or use peel off wastes to 'pretty them up'Tatts :hello: :kisses2:0
