Hi, Help needed please. My son got a Sony Walkman mp3 player for Xmas and wants to buy some tracks from i tunes to put on it. I thought the modern Walkmans had a way to do this, but I can work out how.
Can anyone help please.

Any help very gratefully received. Thanks in advance. Ktj.

I have had one of these for Xmas, but don't use itunes. Can I start by asking which model it is?

Hi, It's model no. nwzs638f. If you don't use itunes, is there a good site to buy tracks from that is compatible with walkman mp3 players?0

Hi, I have the same one as you but the 16gb version.
There are loads of sites. Basically anything in Mp3, which most sites do these days. Play.com do downloads, as do 7digital, Amazon
Once downloaded it's just a case of dragging and dropping or you can sych the device with Windows Media Player (I think you need to have version 11) and away you go.
You can also watch bbc iplayer programmes on these players.:TStriving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -
Hi, Many thanks. I'll give Amazon a try. Cheers ktj.0

If the walkman can play AAC files, you can download iTunes Plus tracks, as they don't have any DRM.
Play.com is pretty good for downloads too.0 -
Yes, the NWZS638 can play AAC files from the i tunes store. As MartyJ says they must be non DRM files for them to be played on the Sony player.0

Hi, Many Thanks for info.
Unfortunately as a bit of a technophob, aac and drm don't really mean much to me. How do I find out if the tracks that I'm trying to download are of the correct type? If they are the correct type but will not download, is there anything that I can try? The tracks that I'm trying unsuccessfully to get on the walkman at the moment are itunes free 12 days of xmas tracks. Has anyone else managed to get them on a walkman? Again many thanks in advance for any help. ktj0 -
Free files from iTunes will almost certainly have DRM. This stands for Digital Rights Management, and is a way to restrict what can be done with the file. A track from iTunes with DRM will only play on an iPod and can only be burnt onto a CD a certain number of times.
iTunes has iTunes Plus tracks which don't have any DRM, so can be used on any player which supports the AAC file format. This might answer some of your questions:
