Credit check to reduce my overdraft?

  • Well, I went into my local branch today and asked if I needed to be credit checked to reduce my overdraft, and they looked totally bewildered and said no. The lady on the help desk reduced the limit with about two clicks of the mouse and couldn't understand why her "colleague" in the call centre had said otherwise.

So I assume then when banks want to reduce an overdraft they credit score before hand. Also I had letter from Lloyds about a month ago saying as I did not use all my overdraft facility they would reduce it by £3,000 on the 24.12.
However to date this has never happened. I assume then my credit score at this moment in time was not high enough for it to be reduced.

    UPDATE.
Well I contacted Lloydstsb and they advised they have no intention of reducing my limit and the present permanent limit of £10k will remain. Also when I mentioned I received a letter advising of the reduction there was nothing shown on their system.

    update, update,
Well I have received another letter from Lloyds today confirming they have reviewed my account and just confirming my overdraft will remain the same. I certainly do not need any overdraft but its nice to have for an emergency.
