Virgin plus box

Hi

I recently had a new Virgin plus box installed however since I have been using it the box is making a constant high pitched whistling sound which is really starting to annoy me. I called Virgin and they sent an engineer out but all he said was that this is normal and everybox makes this noise as it is the hard drive working.

However, I know someone who also has the box and his is silent. Has anybody else had this happen or know how i can fix this? I am tempted to ring them again and say I want proof that all boxes make this noise?

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Dave

our one makes a noise, and when you lift it off the shelf it stops, its not a high pitched noise its more like a buzzing noise, really annoyed me at first but i've learnt to ignore it, i can hear it when im in my bedroom sometimes,

Hey better late than never, but.....!:D:D
! what I have used is a large piece of stiff foam (looks like 'mousepad' material!) - inch square, to Isolate it... I found these in a hardware store near me, they also make sure your box is ventilated well!¬
other wise . bubblewrap with large bubbles!!
    .

    .
! BUT!!!! !MAKE SURE HOLES ARE CUT FOR VENTILATION!!!!!!
