Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo card

Acting on the top freebies in November, I obtained the Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo cards. The freebie was 1,500 airmiles if £10 was spent on it before 31st December. I paid my dental bill of £108 on this card on 3rd December. My credit card bill has just arrived and credits me with just 2 airmiles. What's gone wrong?

If you log into your airmiles account, I believe the 1500 airmiles is in the form of a voucher and therefore not included on your airmiles total.

However, I would have thought you'd get more than 2 airmiles for spending £108!

1 airmile per £50 spent on MasterCard
1 airmile per £10 spent on AmericanExpress

2 airmiles for £100-£149 is correct.

Ah, that's me getting confused then!

At least OP will have a nice smile due to their spend, if only 2 air miles!!

I've just been accepted for this credit card - it says on their site that the voucher will be credited to my Airmiles account.

But I don't have an Airmiles account

I haven't had the actual cards come through yet (only the pin number, cards sent separately), so will that explain all?

I'm not sure if having this card automatically gets you an airmiles account, or whether you're supposed to link an airmiles account to the card...

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

As already stated, 2 Airmiles would be the credit if paying by the Mastercard issue of the Duo set of cards. However, as you have spent over £10, the 1,500 miles (issued as a voucher and seperate to the other 2 - and any subsequent - airmiles) will be credited to your Airmiles account.

If you don't have an Airmiles account, one will be automatically set-up for you and you will get your 16-digit account number through the post at some point (or, for the impatient like me, you can phone Airmiles and ask for it). You can then go onto the Airmiles website, and sign-up for a username and password (not the new account option) which will give you - as it says on the tin - a username and password in order to login to the site, check your airmiles balance, spend your 1,500 mile voucher and shop online to collect Airmiles.

If you have any further questions let me know - I've become a bit of an Airmiles junkie since getting the credit card in January - I've spent the voucher and have almost 5,000 seperate airmiles already!

That's correct. What you also have to remember, to redeem the voucher, you have to book at least one nights accommodation through Airmiles!

I think I read in the terms that you had to spend £10 on the american express card, not the mastercard. It says now:-

'Customers who apply through AIRMILES and are accepted for the Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo Credit Card account before 31 March 2009 will be eligible for the 1,500 mile voucher if they make a £10 Eligible purchase on their Airmiles Duo American Express Card before 30 June 2009.'

But the offer has been extended since it started, so I don't know what the conditions were at the time.

Looking again at Moneysaving Experts email from November, I think the trigger to getting the 1,500 airmiles is actually paying the monthly amount off in full and not when a purchase over £10 is made. Hopefully therefore, I will get the voucher with next month's bill. If it has to be the American Express card that is used to get the airmiles then that wasn't made clear by Moneysaving Expert in November.
