Can someone please let me know how much electric a 3kw electric fire uses, say per hour.
Mum has replaced her open fire with an electric fire. Is pleased with it especially as she was finding an open fire hard work. Saving on coal bills but how much will it cost for the electric fire.......
Many thanks in advance.

A 3 kw fire will use 3 kwh per hour.
At about 12p per kwh (online dd rate), thats 36p per hour, more if you pay quarterly.0 -

A quick Google found this, which looks useful:
http://www.nottenergy.com/energy-costs-comparison32kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0 -
I've decided to leave Mum to use the electric as she will for a week, taking a reading at the beginning and then at the end of the week. See how hard the electric bill will hit her pocket. If its really bad I think I may suggest she does a swap and use the dining room as the living room as its a smaller room.
Don't think she will take to well to the idea but if her electric bill is horrendous, who knows, she may swap rooms in a flash !0 -
Does the fire stay on for the full hr? the room must get very warm. The measure of love is love without measure0
