Switching Provider and paying off previous provider

Options
I was just wondering, when you switch provider do you have to pay off any outstanding bills for the old one or just carry on paying the new one as normal and the debt gets carried over to the new provider? I have an outstanding balance of around £100 you see and I pay by monthly direct debit.

Debt does not get carried over to a new provider. Normally if you have a debt of £100+ - some supplies will reject your request to change supplier. Some people do slip through the net and manage to transfer to a new supplier, but any out standing balance to the ld company, will need to be paid to them.
