I made my walk in greenhouse out of pallets and timber, free from work, and covered it myself with heavy duty plastic (huge roll) that I got from a car boot sale for £3.50. The plastic lasted two years. Last year I got a roll of shrinkwrap the stuff they use to wrap pallet loads of goods, and covered some smaller greenhouses with that, it is brilliant stuff. I have managed to get another roll, free, and I am going to cover the big greenhouse with it. I don't like paying for anything if I can get it free. Ilona aka Meanqueen

I had seen these but I don't think they lookn as good to be honest, plus the pictures are terrible, you can't really see what they look like.

bought one of these last week looks fine when put up ,hope it lasts a few years ,had the one from argos before and the replacement covers were 15 to 18 quid this was bigger so opted for it instead of new cover.

Does it have a clear cover or one of the reinforced ones ie green or white mesh?

I saw some of the clear covers for the small 4 shelf greenhouses in Poundland yesterday.

  • Hi

The covers do seem to vary quite a bit. I've had cheap ones in the past and you're lucky if the covers last one year! The Gardman ones seem to be about the best and they now do some with their heavy duty covers that are meant to last much longer.

I found a website called Active Gardening that lists all of the Gardman ones plus a few others.

    Hope this helps!

My own covers that I bought in homebase lasted a very short time sadly
after all. They were the kind with the green mesh in them but I have a feeling they were not UV resistant as eventually all the little plastic squares fell out leaving only the green mesh.
We bought a Polycarbonate greenhouse a couple of months ago as my metal frames were past saving. I recycled them as staging though so they didn't go to waste.
