Credit cards for students?

Options
am interested in starting this but being a student I have little income and not a high credit score.

What cards around are there that are available to students wth little or no incomes. I dont want anything with 0% as I feel I will be wasting the offer aas my limit will be laughable. Just really want one to build up a good score so a cashback one is probably best.

Only found a student barclaycard and the capital one at the moment that doesnt have a high income requirement. I could probably get an egg card but that is a good offer I dont want to waste with a measly £500-£1000 limit ill probably get.

Ideally would like an amex blue but £12000 at uni is virtually impossible to do :(

Thanks :)

  • Who do you bank with?

smile have a pretty good interest free student account and their credit card has 0.5% cash back and periodic 0% interest free offers for existing customers.

As you say, at the moment you need to start building up a 'footprint' on your credit records and the best way to do this is be sensible, keep credit card debt low and never miss a payment.

Once you graduate and get into the workplace, that's the time to start thinking about playing the system with Super Balance Transfers and the rest of the tricks in Martin's box.
