samsung camera driver installation problems help please??

hi

i have bought a d860 samsung digital camera and went to install cd on to my pc,went through all the installation then it says this:

Cannot install this hardware

error

The driver installation file is missing a entry.
this may be because the INF file was written for windows 95 or later.

Antone have any ideas of how to get this problem sorted??

i have windows ex if that is any help with info??

thanks in advance

steph

Do you actually need a driver? Most modern cameras work fine without IME.

They simply pop-up as a removable drive in the file manager/explorer & you ship-out the files from there. :)

According to the Samsung website, the driver is for Windows 98, so unless you're running that, you shouldn't need one:

    thanks for replying

so i dont need the cd? when i plug into front usb hole on pc i hear the noise reconising it has new hardware but nothing comes up ,then a balloon pops up saying not to continue installing software as windows does not verify it,i click continue anyway and it installs the software ,creates back up and restore point it says etc there is a info button which tells me why not to install as its not verified it says this:

Designed for Microsoft Windows XP Logo

Hardware and software products displaying the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo have been tested for compatibility with Microsoft Windows operating systems through use of Microsoft-provided testing procedures. For the best performance, Microsoft recommends using hardware products that display the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo on the external packaging and on the device itself.

You may also want to contact the hardware vendor directly and ask for a device driver that has met the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo requirements.

Just buy a card reader if your computer doesn't have one fitted, no software required.

Pop your camera card in to card reader, sorted.

Your camera uses an SD card, You need an sd card reader, similar to- http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_2&products_id=102820 insert into usb slot with the card from the camera inserted, and there you go. Alan

Yes, your pictures are on your card, not your camera.
