My SOA from the other side

  • I had to pay in £11.95 yesterday at the post office to cover a d/d and they were completely stumped. It took two of them to sort it out. First they had to swipe the card on their side of the counter and then I had to enter it into the card machine on my side of the counter, but not enter my PIN!
Then they could deposit the money...... weird
At least we all know now!

  • hopefully my post office might be a bit more on the ball

  • Hi haley,

Not much to add to what's already been said, except car maintenance for one car should be around £40, and I think you can put an amount for prescriptions and dentist even if you are getting them free at the mo (but someone will put me right if I'm wrong!) You need to round everything up to the nearest pound on the SOA.

Co-op's website might tell you where your nearest banking branch is - that's how we found ours! (40 mile round trip!) hth CBx
  • cheers for that CB, with regards to the car,im still in the mindset of having an OH who would deal with such nasties!:(

  • Yep! I'm the same, and to be fair my OH does a lot to the cars but we worked out how much it costs for servicing, MOTs and all that palaver, and it's about £34 per month (per car), so round up to £40 to be safe!

I'm surprised I'm still making sense ... lots of bubbly ...

Funny - just two weeks ago I had £20 a month as my car repair figure.... completely unrealistic and I realise now it does need to be in the region of £40.
I have spent £180 in December alone on tyres and bulbs. It aint cheap.... and there is no "man about the house" to help!

Exactly - I have to keep stopping myself from entering amounts on my SOA that are too "budget-conscious" like on the DFW board and remember that these are amounts to live on realistically during the BR......

yes thats the thing im having trouble with, that and the fact that each time i fill in a form of some sort, the debts and the amounts owing seem to change! no wonder im in such a mess:o

  • Oh, gosh, we ended up with about 4 different budgets on the computer - mine, his, combined and the one we ended up giving the OR! Not that we misled the OR, you just put different amounts in different places to make the SOA work! Nightmare!
