Current account bribes and credit rating?

Hi guys...

With all those offers flourishing like A&L and Barclays who are "bribing" you for opening an account and referring someone, how does opening and closing current accounts within 3 months affect your credit rating?

OH and I are thinking about getting a mortgage but the incentives look good and we were wondering if grabbing them would affect our chances to get a good mortgage deal.

Also, on a different question: how do I better my credit rating without taking a loan? If I take a credit card and pay it in full every month, would it help? I have already requested to be on the electoral register you see... I cant think of anything else...

Yes, although you cannot be sure that this CC company will report you to all CRAs and different lenders use different CRAs when you apply for a credit.
