2nd Loan/Grant payment

Hi All

Just a quick question please, When we were waiting for dh first loan payment back in September, it took an age to sort out and even though the date on the form was sometime middle of Sept, his course didn't start until 26th and we didn't receive the payment until October...

Are there similar problems with the 2nd and 3rd payments or do they generally go in the bank on time, i.e the date stated on the letter.

Off what I found last year the dates the loan/grant were said to be paid was generally the day they were paid. This year I applied late but when I checked my application it said it had been sent to be paid on the 30th of this month and that is my first instalment.

But last year everything was on time. So if there were problems with the first payment and those have now been resolved, then I'd expect the 2nd and 3rd payments to be paid on time and without any problems. So I'd expect them to go into your bank on the day it says. Could be wrong though.

My ds had his second payment on time last year, his is due on the 7th Jan.

The first loan payment is not released by the SLC until the college/ university confirm in writing that the student has actually started the course, i.e. attended the first day and gone through the enrollment process. Subsequent payments are usually made on the dates stated on your paperwork.

Thanks everyone, that's what I was hoping... We are relying on this money and DH also needs it to get his rail ticket for the term.
