Amazon delivery

Options
My husband ordered a new laptop 2 weeks ago from amazon. It was out of stock at the time but a few days later received an email saying that it would be delivered 29/12.No delivery today so checked on my order on amazon this evening and it says it was delivered on 22/12 at 12.38pm.Ive emailed amazon as we were at a funeral in lincolnshire all day that day and didnt return home until 4pm.They have emailed me back and said it was delivered by HDNL and left in a secure place..which we dont have as our house entrance is in a busy car park for the spar shop next door.Im going to ring them tomorrow to see what they have to say but this is the 1st time something like this has ever happened and im wondering what my rights are now and how i should progress as im worried sick.Surely a £400 laptop should need a signature. He paid by mastercard-will we have any protection with that?any advice would be much appreciated.

If it does not have you signature then it is not delivered and it is Amazons responsibility to prove otherwise. Don't let them fob you off with the age old trick of getting you to contact the courier, it is down to amazon to do all the chasing, not you as the customer.
  • Smcaul is spot on, but if you get any issues, PM me.

Thank you for that..they said in their reply email that they give the courier the authority to leave an item in a secure place..so im assuming the buck lies with amazon on this..it just beggars belief that they would just leave something of such value without a signature.Id have been happy ro rearrange delivery as i have done on numerous occasions with DHL whos service is fantastic.many thanks for your response on this.

The buck lies with amazon. HDNL are predictably bad arounf christmas time though.

To save time look at your tracking info on Amazon and it will sho you the location of your "local" HDNL depot. the use saynoto0870 to find their geographic telephone number, and give them a call.

You can be doing this at the same time as progressing it with amazon, but you are likely to get the answer of where it is/was from the depot a little while before Amazon get a response from them, in my experience.
  • worst comes to worst there is c.c protection, that should be a worst case scenario though
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

all your base are belong to us
  • I wouldn't even bother contacting HDNL - they're notorious for this type of thing. My DH works as a courier (for a different company) and they are no longer allowed to leave anything unless they have the specific authority from the customer - NOT the company who are sending the goods.

Keep chasing Amazon - the onus is on them to either prove delivery by way of a signature or to send a replacement item out for you, which to be honest is probably happening a lot over the last couple of weeks!

Whilst you can a complaint with Amazon the fault lies with the courier although you have to take that up with Amazon

I been quiet lucky I guess never had any issues with couriers (accept late delivery other week but that was down to bad weather) and Amazon have always be fine, touch wood
