Need to get cheap recycled cardboard boxes

Options
Hi everyone

My husband has just set up a new online business and needs to source cardboard boxes for packing up his products and posting out. He has been making his own using the boxes the products came in, but as business grows these won't be enough.

There seem to be loads of suppliers available, but I just wondered if anyone could recommend ones based on price and service. If the boxes are made of recycled material that would influence the purchasing too (maybe they all are now?)

Boxes of various sizes needed but commonly 12x12x 6 (sorry I still work in inches!) and upwards.

Thanks

  • if you want boxes, try card shops or supermarkets as they always seem to have loads! im not sure if they are recycled, but if your going to re-use them then i guess they will be recycled. other than that, morplan.com are good and reliable! they are based in harlow.

I go to a local shoe shop to collect their used boxes, including that size which their boots seem to come in. I have to go by 1pm each day or they throw them out!
They are all plain white with just a size and type label on one end.
We re-use them for ebay goods.

Try places like freecycle as people give away all sorts of things. You might get lucky :)

If you want unused boxes try ringing around local packaging companies in the Yellow Pages. Prices vary a lot so compare prices and specifications and find someone good locally.

Thanks for replies. The volume and regularity of supply that he'll need means the freecycle/shoeshop/tesco route isn't really suitable.

Like the idea of finding a local supplier though, will check it out

Happy New Year to you all!

if you are not looking for new cardboard boxes, we pay a local company Rishton Paper to take away our empty boxes (broken down), as do many other companies around here, (you can either get regular or ad-hoc collections depending on your need)

I know they recycle most and it is sent overeseas, but they might also sell some locally? (and I assume each local area has similar business waste paper / cardboard companies)
