Out of Date charges. Cheek

Hey first time on here threading but need help. I have been sent a bill for £300.00 from my old gas and electric supplier whom I have not been with for about 2 years give or take a month. They are now saying I owe them this money even though they gave me a final bill which i paid in full and they credited me with £20 for good will because I left them and went else where. Should I pay? Help needed. Cheers

Do you have the original final bill? It may be they have realised the change of supplier reading was wrong and they are trying to correct it but I am pretty sure the Billing Code 12 month back bill rule applies. If you are in the same property then write to them stating that as you have paid the final bill and more than 12 months have elapsed then you will not be paying this revised bill. You may want to quote 'ERA Billing Code' in the letter so they know you know what you are talking about.
