Panasonic dvd recorder - girlie questions

I have bought my recorder and am now going to buy some dvd-ram discs (they were out of stock when I bought recorder)
Do I buy cartridge or non cartridge disks - does it mean that if they are non-cartridge I buy slip covers for the disks or have I totally misunderstood?
Also could someone explain time-slip to me as I cant get my head round it and how it works. If the phone rings do I start recording and then how do I carry on watching from that point while it still records? (If its a complicated answer perhaps a pm would help)
Thanks

Cartridge discs come (surprise surprise) already in cartridges - a lot of early DVD recorders (like early CD recorders and CD-ROM drives if you can remember that far back) used them to protect the discs from sticky fingers etc. Given you've bought a recent recorder, you don't need cartridges. Non-cartridge discs come in cases like CD cases - so you don't need to buy extras.
Timeslip allows you to watch the programme you're recording - so if (say) your mum rings up while you're watching, you start the timeslip recording and gas away to her to your hearts content, come back to the recorder and you can start watching from where you left it (optionally at 1.3x normal speed to catch up a bit for example) while it keeps recording.....There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
I've got a question about a Panasonic dvd recorder.
I can get the DVD to work ok but, I'm unable to get the VCR going again (Sony), it's a Sony TV also.
At the moment, the scart socket's run from the TV to the DVD to the VCR.
As I say the TV & DVD are ok but, I cant record or play back from the VCR.I find Viagra saves peeing on my shoe.....0 -
Thanks Hunnymonster
I'm off to buy my non-cartridge disks and will then try timeslip
