I have just received a "Estimated" bill appararently from scottish power for £161.00 for a MONTH... when i gave them new meter readings, she said it now stands at 349.00 owing... i told them we have no change in our useage, heating is on a timer 2 a day, and prior to this bill it was never so high.
ANYONE HELP ME ... i cant afford that !! x:mad:

Storage heaters, by any chance?
If not, what sort of heating? How do you heat hot water? Serial numbers on bill match your meters? Where are your meters? Could anyone have tampered with them?0 -
Gas or Electricity or both?
You said meter readings -
We would need more information, but it is probable that your previous bills have been too low and haven't covered your consumption, so you have built up a debt.0 -
Well you have obviously used the gas/elec. Looks like elec. How much have you been paying monthly? What tarriff are you on?
You say 'apparently' from Scottish Power. Is it or isn't it from them?0 -
Like I said in another thread, I dread to think what some people's quarterly bills will be in January. The ones who have been paying estimated bills for anything up to 2 years, have no idea how much gas they are using and even less idea of how much it now costs. I'm sure we will see people on here posting about bills in excess of £1,000 for the quarter. I'm assuming the energy companies will see an increase in bad debt over the next few months.
PS to OP, you will need to contact your energy comapny by phone and try and make an arrangement to pay which hopefully could take you into the Summer (low usage) months.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
if you have economy 7 have you checked if you have given them the reads the correct way round? sounds like you've possibly mixed up the day and night.0
