  • I completely agree with you horton.

Sorry I don't have any advice OP, was looking for suggestions myself. Hope you've managed to sort things out though :-)
  • Why not apply to freecycle or something similar to see if you can get any furniture for free whilst saving up enough., Not worth having the furniture if you are going to starve.
Also, if you have a local car boot sale, then go along and check out the stuff that gets skipped after the sale because people can't be bothered taking it home. I run a car boot sale in Liverpool and have seen televisions, radios, computers bikes etc all being thrown away.
Not the best solution, but surely worth it to get you through a crisis?

actually supermarkets don't exist to supply people with food, they exist to make shed loads of money, They are not run by this mysterious "jimmy shopowner" - he doesn't exist in many places anymore, as the supermarkets have all but closed down all the small privately owned shops in their greedy hunt for profits. In fact he probably works in a miserable job stocking shelves for minimum wage.

god you're so ignorant. I really despair at "humanity" sometimes.

now someone takes my comment down for being offenisve whilst this opinionated and ill-informed idiot sits there smugly reading his daily mail.

I don't think you read that post properly and your sentences don't really make sense!

I think what was meant by Jimmy Shopowner was the supermarket chains themselves would close down if people kept took free food and she did actually say that they supply food for money (i.e. Money for profits!)

    Read everything before you post!

    Yes, I agree.
If we all went out and bought a bed while having nothing to eat and then went to wait in front of supermarket to get a free food....
I will suggest it to my friend who just moved and is skinned so is only sleeping on a matrace until she can afford to buy a bed...NOT!

I am sorry OP, it's not that I don't want to help or anything, but I really don't like people buying unnecesary things and only AFTER thinking about the food etc.. Sorry

    Hi there honey x x

Can your parents not help you?

Can you use the £25 savings you have in your signature?

Can you go to the bank and beg £100 until payday, it's not a nice thing to do but better than going cold/hungry.

Go to the Supermarkets at closing time and get food that has knocked down prices.

As for the negative non helpful quotes by some posters, come on folks don't be so judgemental, there isn't a person alive that hasn't made unwise choices, if you can't be helpful...say nowt.

Babysitting? instant cash and a job that can be done in any spare time, perfect!
  • You could see if your local newsagents need any paper delivery people. Not a high earning job but it's something, and you're likely to be paid cash in hand.
  • I'm at the limit with all my sources and its not a case of putting off buying furniture... I have to have something to sleep on, I've not bought much. Just a bed and something to sit on.

As suggested, take it back and rebuy it next month.

You can get camp beds from the army surplus for about a tenner. If they're good enough for soldiers roughing it in tents, they're good enough for anyone else.

All else fails, there's nothing wrong with sleeping on a camping mat for two weeks. I've done that before plenty of times.

Sit on the bed for a few weeks! Food is a necessity, a sofa is not.

Failing that, are you on quidco? If so you can take out a payday loan for £80, you pay back £100 on payday but get £40 cashback from Quidco. So at the end of it you are £20 in profit, and it'd tide you over until payday. No credit checks if thats an issue, and it is a very reliable tracker on Quidco.
    Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81
    Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off
