Hi, has anyone recently been or planning to undertake a phlebotomy course? I graduated from university in July in Biomedical Science. Im currently not in employment and finding it very difficult to get work due to my lack of experience. I was contemplating whether or not to undertake a phlebotomy course which add another skill to my cv and also increase the chances of employment. I regularly see phlebomomist positions. I'd like to find of anyone had been on one of these course and what they entail and if they are any good. I know these course can be quite expensive but I think the investment would be a wise one.

Try your local university they do CPD courses and most universitys do phlebolomy in there health and social care departments. The only thing is that you will have to fund the course yourself. you may find others about but alot of hospitals wont accept external courses.£27.76/£2018 in 20180

Phlebotomy...do you really want to be drawing blood for the rest of your life?
Put it this way I studied Medical Biochem at uni, then I did a Masters in Bioresearch then I did a Sales and Marketing certificate & worked in medical sales. Now I'm training to become a financial adviser...you get my drift?
Think long and hard before you enroll in courses, I find that Bioscience/medical jobs are not very lucrative, v. hard work and boring unless you are the best of the best and passionate about it (admittingly I'm not!). You shouldn't base your career path on the fact there seems to be loads job with that position out there!!!
Good luck in your career searchMinds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

Im not sure if it varies around the country but at my hospital they give you on the job training, its more a case of practice than anything else...0
