Need advice regarding laptop and wireless dongle.

Hi guys,
My auntie has bought a laptop and subscribed to t-mobile wireless and has a dongle. On xmas day the internet worked fine but now although it says the laptop is connected to the internet on the dongle acer disconnects the internet. It is definitely something to do with the Acer laptop as I have put the dongle in my laptop and it let me on the internet.
What can I do to sort it out? Bare in mind I only use a mac and hers is an Acer laptop with windows vista so laymens terms please
