Hi
I am thinking of buying tomtom with Mapshare.
Is the mapshare updates free for life?
And, does this mean i will never have to buy another map from tomtom, because they will be constantly updated by users?
Thanks

As far as I know, it's free for the first year and then a subscription is needed.
But I may be wrong, I'm still well within the first year of using it myself.
It's really good though :beer:The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

Think it is 12 month free as said above. New maps come out, mapshare is purely correcting errors on existing ones.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0

So, if after 12 months and a new map came out, I would have to buy the new map to get the free map share updates which will also then be valid for 12 months?0

Yes, however my TomTom is about 18-24 months old now and I haven't bought a new map yet. The map share updates were useful for such things as adding/removing roundabouts, telling them of one way streets etc.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -

Probably right, but probably wrong in doing it.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
One thing to remember about mapshare.
It DOES NOT update the map. If you add/delete roads roundabouts postcodes or other things like this (except POI's) then the changes are made in the next map edition if approved. The only immediate mapshare to take place is blocked roads, one way streets and things like that that dont actually change the map layout.0 -

True, but as I said, I don't have any problems with mine at the minute and the machine is nigh on 2 years old now. Not many changes made really.
I also use a site Pocket GPS for safety camera locations, I've found them better than TomToms own.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0
