On the 27th online I purchased a Television on line from a major online retailer which was advertised at £499.
I clicked basket to buy and went through the process and payed.
Perhaps I should have been watching closer but I was only watching I did not pay extra for early delivery, as I was going for the free 5-7 day delivery, but when I checked email reciept I found I had been charged £599.
I emailed them and they said that it had been on a one day offer on thursday the 25th and that they had had a website problem and it should not have been still up for £499.
Bearing in mind this was the 27th 2 days later do you think this is reasonable or should they have honoured the price I clicked on to buy?

If you purchased online, you should have had 2 confirmatory emails, one about confirmation of payment and one confirming the order and despatch status, if the confirmation of payment states you have paid £499 and then they have additionally taken another £100 then they are wrong, however despite the fact it was advertised at £499 if when you went through to the checkout the price was £599 and thats what you have agreed to pay, then I expect there is nothing you can doAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

what you can do if you have paid the full price is return the item and under the distance selling regulations you have a cooling off period and are entitled to a full refund (minus postage of course)Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Agree with spa2k phone them and tell them that you are going to either refuse delivery or if its been delivered it will cost them to pick it up you might end up with a compromise?0
-
Contact them straight away and tell them you are not prepared to pay at the new revised price. If they cant stop it then refuse delivery
I had this problem with Littlewoods direct 18 months ago despite having email confirmed the price we agreed they still tried to charge me more, they even lost the goods on delivery0 -
They do not have to honour the displayed price mind you, they retain the right to cancel your order at any time prior to billing. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

Is it definite that they do not have to sell at the displayed price and that it is only an invitation to buy.
The price I had to pay is in fact just about the same as every body else but was a bargain at the advertised price.
I will keep it anyway I expect as it had 5 years warranty with it but if there was a way to get some more money back of course I would take it.0 -
It usually states somewhere in the Terms & Conditions that they can cancel an order prior to billing. Which company was it?We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

Yes, it is definite.
zenseeker, most online retailers reserve the right to cancel/ refuse the order at anytime prior to despatch, which may be after the point of billing. It all depends on the t&c's.

That's what I meant, but on occasion they will honour the order if they have billed you, even if the item hasn't left the warehouse, I've been lucky on a few occasions with that
